This one is soooo good. It is a vegan-friendly red wine from California and it is not to be missed. It is warm, jammy, and full of JUICE!
Tierra Divina Vineyards Reds, hailing from Lodi which is always a good sign. (Have you ever had a bad bottle from Lodi? Me neither.) Reds has long been an affordable vegan wine favorite of mine and the 2015 bottle is the best so far. While still complex, it is lacking the fussiness of the older vintages that satisfied my $10 tasting palette, but this one has cut the Zinfindel grapes from the mix and is now a blend of Carignane (80%) and Petite Sirah (20%) grapes, with the wonderful 120+ years old Carignane grape vines taking center stage. Reds is a greatly affordable, complex, and hearty red wine.
“Jammy” is often the word that first comes to mind, as it tastes rich with berries and plum. It is a big taste that works well with rich foods. Reds is a fruit forward wine but not sweet. It is rich.
I picked this bottle up at Greenpoint’s famous Dandelion Wine for $13. Hit ’em up. They may even deliver this to you.
Keep in mind that not all Reds vintages and other wines from Patrick Campbell’s Tierra Divina are vegan-friendly wines. But the 2015 Reds is good to go, according to Patrick himself.
A bottle of Reds won’t last as long as the 1981 epic starring Warren Beatty and Diane Keaton. You better buy two bottles.
